Hello, I'm Mateja Lukežič
I am an illustrator who brings stories to life through vibrant and enchanting visuals. My work spans children's books, magazines, and a variety of licensed products, including toys, cards, and fabrics. With a passion for visual storytelling, I craft illustrations that captivate young minds and spark their imaginations, working primarily in digital media.

Beyond Illustration
In addition to my work as an illustrator, I am a passionate film educator, dedicated to helping young minds explore the art of visual storytelling. Through workshops and guidance, I empower budding storytellers to uncover their unique voices and craft compelling narratives.
My Journey
Before venturing into illustration and education, I began my career as a graphic designer. Seeking a more expansive creative platform, I pursued higher education at the Famul Stuart School of Applied Arts. This path led me to the Academy of Arts at the University of Nova Gorica, where I obtained a second degree in Scenography and 3D Animation.
Collaborations with esteemed institutions such as the Puppet Theatre of Ljubljana, Mini Theatre, Ana Desetnica and Bobri Festival, Kinodvor, and Mala Ulica have enriched my professional journey.
A Personal Note
I am always exploring, and curious about the stories the world has to tell. Nature and animals are my sanctuary—spaces where I find peace, inspiration, and connection. They fill my life with richness and wonder, shaping how I see the world and the stories I create.
After the passing of my beloved dog Ben, a new chapter began with Pablo, a spirited companion who inspires new stories every day. His playful energy and curious nature remind me of the magic in simple moments, which often spark ideas for my work.
I share my life with my loving partner and two wonderful adult sons. Together, they are my greatest support and a constant reminder of the importance of creativity, love, and shared experiences.
